Teaching studio

piano4t is based in South Bucks/ South Herts. Lessons and workshops take place mainly in the studio and local schools but it is possible to deliver lessons in students' homes in some circumstances, by arrangement. Students work on a number of key areas as well as piano technique. Younger pupils enjoy pre-instrumental learning (Foundation and Early Years music). All students build up their practical musicianship alongside music theory and literacy. Many enjoy improvisation, harmonisation and composition as well as preparing for Grade exams for ABRSM, London College and Trinity Guildhall. There are opportunities for performing in concerts and termly projects
Practical musicianship skills Most lessons will include rhythm games, singing and pitch games and listening to great, illustrative or unusual performances.
Improvisation and composition Everyone can improvise! Most students enjoy the experiences of performing to backing tracks, recording their performances, writing down their compositions and using notation software to produce their own sheet music.
Music Theory Group lessons or individual offer age appropriate teaching and can be adapted to requirements of secondary school entrance tests and GCSE/ AS Music.
Grade exams may be worked for including ABRSM Prep test, LCM 'Step' exams, Trinity Initial; ABRSM Practical (Performing) Grades I to VIII, Theory to Grade VI, Practical Musicianship to Grade V, and Jazz Piano Grades I to V; LCM Practical Grades I to VIII and Leisure Play; Trinity Guildhall Grades I to VIII and Performance Certificates.
Mini projects Periodically students will complete projects such as performing in concerts and festivals, exploring the history of the piano, finding out about great composers.
