Learning to listen

Welcome to these listening training pages.  They will help you to:

  • plan your listening
  • get more from what you hear
  • better understand the music you play
  • improve memorisation skills
  • find great performances in all styles....
  • ...and .. just possibly... get better marks in aural tests!
All Students preparing for Grade exams are recommended to take a look at Hofnotes or Aurelia on-line training pages to practise for the aural tests.  At higher grades  you must be able to discuss with the examiner musical features such as the mood and character of a piece of music, and the features that give it that character.  These may be features of rhythm and metre, or of texture and form; you may also be asked about the style and period of a piece of music.

My own web pages to help with these parts of the test at Grade 5+ and at GCSE are available here!
